These pictures are from an on-going photographic project I started in 1996 before mum died. She and her mother Carmelita were dedicated gardeners for most of their lives. Photographing the many plants and trees they grew and cared for while starting my own garden has been a way of collaborating with them in the beauty they created. After the deaths of our mother in 1998, our grandmother in 1999 and grandfather Bern in 2001 Rosalie's son, my brother Otto continued to care for the garden until his return to Australia. "The Hill " has been left to nature.
